Next fall, the OCSB will open a new Catholic elementary school in Barrhaven South, located at 135 Main Halyard Lane. The school will serve students in Kindergarten to Grade 6! This new school will offer French Immersion programming. Extended Day Programs for before and after school care and a potential Pre-School Childcare Centre have been proposed. The new school is scheduled to open for the 2023-2024 school year.
Boundary changes coming to schools in the Barrhaven South community
On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, the Ottawa Catholic School Board approved the New Barrhaven South Elementary School Attendance Boundary and associated boundary revisions to St. Benedict, St. Cecilia and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton elementary schools. These changes will go into effect at the opening date of the new school, currently scheduled for September 2023.
- The New Barrhaven South elementary school will open as a Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6 facility with a full complement of grades.
- JK to Grade 6 students attending St. Benedict, St. Cecilia and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton elementary schools, who reside within the approved New Barrhaven South elementary school boundary, will be relocated in a complete block to the new school.
