Note: The following message was sent to UNB students, faculty and staff on June 29, 2023, from the Chair of UNB's Board of Governors, Robyn Tingley.
Dear UNB faculty, staff and students,
As Chair of UNB's Board of Governors and the Presidential Review Committee, I am pleased to announce that Dr. Paul J. Mazerolle has been reappointed as President and Vice-Chancellor of UNB for another five-year term, beginning July 1, 2024.
I am proud of our collective decision to reappoint Dr. Mazerolle for a second term as President of our esteemed university. Under his leadership, UNB has seen an increase in philanthropic support, research growth and momentous projects being launched, such as the McKenna Institute, the Integrated Health Initiative, a recently announced new home for our faculty of law, and the Diversity Dialogues, which are aimed at solving significant challenges of our time. Despite the pandemic and its negative impacts on universities across the globe, UNB has gained financial strength under Dr. Mazerolle's leadership. This year UNB achieved a balanced budget for the first time in many years.
There is more work to do to realize the ambitious goals outlined in UNB's Strategic Vision: UNB Toward 2030 and I am confident that we will continue to advance with the leadership and dedication demonstrated by Dr. Mazerolle over the past four years.
Please join me in congratulating and thanking Dr. Mazerolle for his continued commitment to UNB and to our province. I look forward to seeing the growth and positive impact UNB achieves over the next six years.
Sincerely,
Robyn Tingley
Chair, UNB Board of Governors
