New study examines origins of toxic bacteria that killed 2 dogs at Halifax-area lake

Researchers investigating what led to the deadly poisoning of two dogs at a Halifax-area lake three years ago believe mats of bacteria growing on the bed of a tributary were likely washed downstream and became highly toxic before they were eaten by the canines on the shore.
