Bishop's University has announced the appointment of Murielle Lortie, CPA, CA as the incoming Chair of its Board of Governors, effective July 1, 2024.
She succeeds Robert Hall '79 who held the position for the past decade. The Board of Governors thanks Mr. Hall, Chief of Strategy and Legal Affairs at Cascades, for his outstanding leadership during the past years and in particular during the transition of the new Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Sébastien Lebel- Grenier.
"I am thrilled to have Murielle Lortie in this very important leadership position," says Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Sébastien Lebel-Grenier. "Murielle's remarkable career and wide-ranging experience, including as an alumna of the University, will help support Bishop's in the coming years."
Ms Lortie is Chief Financial and Operating Officer at Claridge Inc. She joined Claridge in 2021. Prior to joining Claridge, Murielle Lortie served as CFO at Liminal BioSciences and Pharmascience. She also held several finance-related positions at Bristol-Myers Squibb Canada, Lafarge North America, and Arthur Andersen.
She is a Board member and Audit Chair of Profound Medical Inc. (NASDAQ & TSX) and serves on several Claridge portfolio companies' Boards and Audit Committees.
Ms Lortie earned a Bachelor of Business Administration, Major in Accounting in 1991 from Bishop's University. She joined the University's Board of Governors in 2022.
