uOttaHack, the premier student-run hackathon at the University of Ottawa, is thrilled to announce its 7th annual event, set to take place from January 17th to January 19th, 2025, at the Learning Crossroads (CRX). This highly anticipated in-person event will unite over 800 tech enthusiasts, industry leaders, and university faculty for a weekend of collaboration, creativity, and cutting-edge innovation.
"We're proud to create a space where ideas come to life and participants leave with new skills, connections, and inspiration to push the boundaries of technology," says Matteo Dagostino, software engineering student and co-director of the hackathon.
uOttaHack 2025 promises an engaging lineup, including company-sponsored challenges, career fairs, workshops, keynote speakers, and entertaining mini-events. It's more than just a competition it's an opportunity for participants to grow personally and professionally while solving real-world problems using technology.
The hackathon will feature support from leading sponsors including Solace, Deloitte, SurveyMonkey, NAV CANADA, CSE, Thales, Groq, and more, whose involvement highlights their commitment to fostering innovation and the next generation of tech leaders.

All three directors agree: uOttaHack is not just about the projects created it's about building a network of passionate individuals who are driven to make an impact.
Over the years, uOttaHack has grown exponentially. In 2024, the event welcomed over 600 hackers, received 1,800 applications, and partnered with 30 sponsors to deliver 12 workshops. Participants represented over 50 schools and built projects ranging from AI-powered apps to groundbreaking hardware solutions, showcasing the transformative power of technology.
