Following an extensive global search, Scott Johnstone has been appointed Vice-President, Administration and Services, responsible for a diverse range of critical, university-wide services. The appointment is effective May 2, 2025.

Johnstone has served as Associate Vice-President, Infrastructure and Operations since 2019 and has deep experience in post-secondary education administration, complex infrastructure projects, and university operations. He has been at Brock University for more than 17 years and has served in several roles, most recently as Acting Vice-President, Administration.

Johnstone has led multi-functional teams in delivering a range of strategic initiatives, including the construction of the Cairns Family Health Bioscience Complex, Canada Games Park, Residence 8, the Rankin Family Pavilion and the Brock-Niagara Validation, Prototyping and Manufacturing Institute, and led the site selection and outfitting process for Brock's new Burlington Campus.

He also led the development of the University's carbon reduction strategy, which secured millions of dollars in government grants and established Brock as a national leader in sustainability, and helped guide Brock's response to the COVID-19 pandemic as the lead of the University's Emergency Management Group.

"Scott is an exceptional leader whose thoughtful, collaborative approach will be invaluable to Brock's leadership team," says Lesley Rigg, President and Vice-Chancellor. "His strategic insight and deep commitment to operational excellence will be critical as we continue advancing the institution's priorities and enhancing the overall effectiveness of our operations."

The Vice-President, Administration and Services plays an integral role in driving operational excellence, enhancing university-wide services, and ensuring Brock continues to thrive as a leading comprehensive institution.

The position oversees and provides strategic vision for a number of key areas, including Ancillary Services, Facilities Management, Information Technology, People and Culture, Campus Safety, Internal Audit, and University Risk Management.

"Brock University is a special place that plays a transformative role in the lives of so many people across Niagara and around the world," says Johnstone. "I'm thrilled to be taking on this leadership role and look forward to supporting Brock's purpose by fostering a strong, sustainable administrative foundation that enables our students, faculty and staff to thrive."
