Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is expanding its reach to West Africa, creating a more globally connected learning experience for students at KPU.
A new student pathway now allows learners from DUNIS Africa university to complete a Canadian bachelor's degree at KPU. The pathway applies to students enrolled in DUNIS Africa's business administration and political science programs.
"This agreement represents an exciting opportunity to strengthen academic bridges between Africa and Canada and to welcome talented learners who will benefit from a distinctly Canadian educational experience -- one that builds global perspectives and intercultural understanding. DUNIS students receive an excellent education at home and now have the opportunity to build on that foundation in Canada, further developing the global mindset essential for today's citizens," says Carole St. Laurent, Associate Vice-President, KPU International.
The pathway is one of many established by KPU International's Office of Global Engagement, which builds relationships with institutions and organizations around the world to create impactful learning opportunities for KPU students.
This most recent agreement allows eligible DUNIS students to receive significant transfer credit toward a Bachelor of Arts, Major in Political Science, and Bachelor of Business Administration majors, including Accounting, Entrepreneurial Leadership, Human Resources Management, and Marketing Management.
This is KPU's first articulation agreement with a partner institution in Africa.
"This partnership with KPU opens an exciting gateway for DUNIS students to pursue high-quality academic pathways in Canada. It reflects our commitment to expanding global opportunities and giving our students direct access to one of the most dynamic and welcoming education systems in the world," says Fanta Kasse, CEO of DUNIS Africa.
DUNIS Africa is a private post-secondary institution offering internationally-oriented bachelor's degree programs across multiple locations in West and Central Africa.
Another recent KPU partnership in Africa provides the opportunity for visiting students from Université Ibn Khaldoun in Tunisia to attend KPU for one semester.
KPU, which has 108 active agreements with institutions around the world, including 13 articulation agreements, continues to look to expand its reach through both existing and new partnerships. These partnerships create global learning opportunities for KPU students and faculty and contribute to the diversification and internationalization of the university.
