The University of New Brunswick is proud to announce the 2026-27 recipients of the Good Energy Scholarship at UNB, made possible through the generous support of Irving Oil.
This year's Good Energy Scholars are Inioluwa Abiodun-Disu, Maddie Desmeules, Willow McGrath, and Leyla Peter-Paul.
Inioluwa Abiodun-Disu of Saint John is a graduate of Saint John High School. Inioluwa is enrolled in the Bachelor of Nursing degree program at UNB's Fredericton campus.
Maddie Desmeules of Hampton is a graduate of Hampton High School. Maddie is enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts degree program at UNB's Saint John campus.
Willow McGrath of Saint John is a graduate of St. Malachy's Memorial High School. Willow is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science degree program at UNB's Fredericton campus.
Leyla Peter-Paul of Fredericton is a graduate of Fredericton Christian Academy. Leyla is enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts and science degree program at UNB's Fredericton campus.

Valued at $40,000 over four years, the Good Energy Scholarship at UNB is one of the university's most prestigious scholarship programs.
Inioluwa, Maddie, Willow, and Leyla join a community of Good Energy Scholars that has been growing since the award was introduced in 2022. Previous Good Energy Scholars include:
- 2025-26: Daniella Acosta, Zulaykha Asman, Juliette Vie, and Maxine Wall
- 2024-25: Sue Le, Isabella Ker, Yasmin Shaheen, and Lily Breneol
- 2023-24: Kaitlyn Pelletier, Elizabeth Henwood, Anil Singh, and Hannah Letto
- 2022-23: Chani Salomon, Veronica Garcia, Kaley Paul, and Estella Calderon
How to apply
The Good Energy Scholarship at UNB supports New Brunswick students beginning an undergraduate degree program at UNB, with a focus on supporting students from underrepresented groups. Selection is based on academic achievement, community impact, volunteerism, and extracurricular activities. At least four Good Energy Scholars are selected each year.
