KWANTLEN POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY
Woman of the world fills KPU alumni leadership role

November 7, 2016

Nancy Armitage has travelled the globe and if there's one thing she's learned it's that relationships matter.

"I love to travel and wherever I go, be it Tanzania or Amazonas or Belgium, people want connection," said Armitage who joined Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) on Oct. 3, 2016 as manager of Alumni Affairs and executive director of the KPU Alumni Association.

Armitage has strategic oversight of Alumni Relations and her top priority is the development of a passionate, connected community of KPU alumni. She plans to grow the campus community's understanding of KPU alumni in industry to learn more about their careers and professions in support of developing and building on career networking and mentorship initiatives.

"I love working on building engagement opportunities," said Armitage. "The key to success is collaboration and I believe everybody here at KPU is on the edge and wants to jump in and be part of that success."

Armitage will also work closely with KPU's Alumni Association board of directors in development and governance to ensure their strategic objectives are realized, bringing on new directors, as well as reviewing governance, and planning for succession.

A highly regarded alumni relations professional, Armitage has over 13 years of experience serving Brandon University, the University of the Fraser Valley and the British Columbia Institute of Technology. With an impressive track record of developing, implementing and managing comprehensive programs and services for alumni, she brings a passion for alumni engagement and a strong commitment to the value of education.

Armitage has a degree in psychology from the University of Regina and an inherent interest in human dynamics. She currently resides in Chilliwack with her husband where they maintain a pottery studio.
