Sturdy was a faculty member at the Provincial Institute of Technology + Art in the mid 1950's + 70s, and played an integral role as the Head of the Alberta College of Art from 1974-1982.
He was a veteran of WWII and was only 20 when he helped evacuate stranded soldiers during the Battle of Dunkirk. Ken obtained viral popularity when he caught the attention of international media with his attendance during the Calgary premiere of Christopher Nolan's "Dunkirk".
He was a symbol of the strength and longevity of our institution and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He was 98 years old.
