Please welcome Deborah Meyers, Vice President, Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Deborah Meyers as Vice President, Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer.

Deborah will join AU September 4. While her primary office will be based in Edmonton, she will have a strong presence in Athabasca as well.

Ms. Meyers brings strong leadership, mentorship, and a service-based culture to the Finance and Administrative team at AU. With a strong history as an Executive, Ms. Meyers will also contribute positively to the culture and strategic lens of your Executive Team. She has demonstrated experience as an inclusive, consultative, and mindful leader and decision maker. Moreover, she brings experience in systems thinking and senior executive leadership.

Ms. Meyers comes to AU having served most recently as the Chief Financial Officer & Vice President Administrative Services for Saskatchewan Polytechnic.

In addition to oversight of Sask Polytech Finance and Administration, including Human Resources, Information Technology and Facilities, Deborah sponsored a major ERP renewal, the introduction of business analytics, and the shift to a strategic procurement process.

Prior to joining Sask Polytech, Deborah served in numerous senior leadership roles in Finance and Administration.  These include Superintendent, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Treasurer for the Calgary Board of Education and Assistant Deputy Minister of Corporate Services in the Government of British Columbia.

No stranger to higher education or government interactions, Ms. Meyers has been engaged in change leadership, financial oversight, and administration in higher education, primary education, government, and crown corporations since the late 80s across three provinces. Thus Ms. Meyers comes to AU well versed in the challenges and opportunities faced by higher education institutions and the role of Agencies, Boards, and Commissions in government contexts.

Ms. Meyers holds a BComm from UBC and a Chartered Professional Accountant, CA Designation.
