This spring, MacEwan University will award credentials to more than 2,200 individuals who will graduate from its degree, certificate and diploma programs. It will also celebrate the achievements of graduates during six ceremonies at Edmonton's Winspear Centre from June 21 to 23.
"Graduation from a university is one of the substantial passages in life," said Dr. Anthony Fields, chancellor. "It is a time for recognition, reflection and celebration. It is a time to acknowledge your diligence and persistence in your studies at MacEwan and to applaud the valuable knowledge and skills you have acquired."
As the MacEwan community marks its 50th anniversary, the institution is well-placed to build on its reputation for exceptional undergraduate learning, and to continue to grow to meet students where they are at. More than 84,000 MacEwan alumni have gone on to contribute to Alberta's economic and social growth and contribute to their communities.
"MacEwan graduates leave university armed with durable skills ready to do remarkable things that will help to create solutions for the complex issues we face in our province and society," says Dr. Annette Trimbee, president and vice-chancellor. "We know our graduates are prepared to take on the next challenge in their careers equipped with the attributes of empathy, leadership and creativity they have gained at MacEwan. They are the perfect example of our strategic vision, Teaching Greatness, in action."
Spring convocation ceremonies will be held at Edmonton's Winspear Centre, where academic credentials will be awarded to graduates, five individuals will receive honorary doctorates from the university, and the achievements of four Distinguished Alumni Award recipients will be recognized.
