YORK UNIVERSITY
President's 2022 Annual Report reinforces York's commitment to right the future

November 15, 2022

Dear York community,

This was a historic year for York University. After a safe and successful return to campus for the first time since the onset of the pandemic, York held the largest convocation in its 63-year history, announced the first senate-approved courses for the new Markham Campus, issued a proposal for a new school of medicine, and ascended in the 2022 QS World and 2022 Maclean's University Rankings.

We have also discovered new ways to leverage our intellectual, cultural, social and geographical resources to meet the world's most pressing challenges, and gained recognition as a global agent of change by ranking as one of the world's Top 35 universities for meeting the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals in the Times Higher Impact Rankings. York's ambitious new goals will see us becoming one of the most sustainable universities in Canada with a targeted plan to achieve net-zero sooner.

Our collective commitment to the public good has always guided our learning, teaching, research and administrative activities, and is enshrined in the University Academic Plan 2020-2025: Building a Better Future (UAP), our blueprint for driving positive change in our local and global communities.

The 2022 President's Annual Report highlights some of the many remarkable achievements from across the University that have helped advance the UAP and foster the values of excellence, progressiveness, sustainability, social justice and equity, and diversity and inclusion. It is a testament to the creativity, innovation and dedication of our students, staff, faculty, course directors, researchers, partners, alumni, Board members and other volunteers.

I encourage you to read all the stories in the report reflecting our collective efforts to right the future.

Read the President's Annual Report.

Kind regards,

Rhonda Lenton
President and Vice-Chancellor
