NAIT is pleased to announce that members of the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) and NAIT's Board of Governors have ratified a new collective agreement, marking an important step forward for the institution and its academic staff.
"The ratification of this agreement reflects our shared commitment to moving forward in a constructive and sustainable way," said Laura Jo Gunter, President & CEO. "Despite a complex negotiation process, both parties stayed focused on reaching a resolution that supports our academic staff, strengthens NAIT's long-term success, and enhances our ability to support students and academic excellence."
Key components
The new four-year agreement, which covers July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2028, includes several key components:
- three per cent increase to salary each year, resulting in a 12 per cent pay increase over four years
- changes to better ensure balanced workloads
- greater clarity about who is covered by the collective agreement
- settlement terms aligned with broader post-secondary agreements regarding increases to health spending accounts and professional development funds
- benefits for temporary employees
- commitment to ongoing dialogue regarding intellectual property, artificial intelligence and benefits
- affirmation of the key role instructors play in instructional delivery, with a shared understanding of how support roles can collaborate
NAIT extends its appreciation to both bargaining teams for their dedication and collaboration throughout the process.
