On May 26, the Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, joins the Association of Early Childhood Educators Newfoundland and Labrador to proclaim May 25 to May 31 as Early Childhood Educators Week.

Minister Davis joined Skye Taylor, executive director of the Association of Early Childhood Educators Newfoundland and Labrador, in signing a proclamation recognizing this week.
Early childhood educators are highly skilled professionals whose dedication, knowledge and patience shape the lives of children throughout our province. This week celebrates their commitment and dedication as they support enriched early childhood experiences for children in their care.
Minister Davis also extends congratulations to Sarah Peters of St. John's on receiving the 2025 Joanne Juteau Early Childhood Education Scholarship, as presented by the Association of Early Childhood Educators Newfoundland and Labrador. Ms. Peters is completing her Early Childhood Education diploma at College of the North Atlantic and has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout their program. The Provincial Government is committed to growing the early learning workforce and is supporting efforts to recruit and retain early childhood educators. There are over 2,000 early childhood educators working in the province, and hundreds more are enrolled in early childhood education programs.
The Provincial Government has signed on to an extension of the Canada-wide Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Early Learning and Child Care Agreement. This extension supports the continuation of $10-a-day child care until 2031.
