NEW BRUNSWICK
Environmental Trust Fund supports more than 190 projects

May 6, 2024

The Environmental Trust Fund will invest about $9 million in projects that will benefit all regions of the province.

The 195 projects for 2024-25 range from climate change adaptation and watershed and coastline protection, to biodiversity conservation and wetland awareness.

"Every year, we take great pride in providing funding for innovative projects and programs that address urgent environmental issues and advance sustainable living," said Glen Savoie, acting minister of environment and climate change. "With these investments, we are driving positive change towards a greener, more resilient future."

The Environmental Trust Fund, which started in 1990, supports community-based initiatives that align with the following priority areas: protecting the environment, increasing environmental awareness, managing waste, addressing climate change and building sustainable communities.

"Protecting our natural environment is extremely important," said Savoie. "It is exceptional to see the interest and motivation from so many organizations, environmental leaders and communities."

More information, including the list of approved projects and initiatives, is available on the Department of Environment and Local Government's website.
