On July 4, the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) introduced the Post-Secondary Education Accountability Framework, which establishes a reporting structure for the post-secondary education system in the Northwest Territories.
The Framework, guided by feedback from post-secondary education partners, outlines the performance measures and responsibilities for post-secondary institutional reporting, and has two purposes:
- To report to the public on the performance of the post-secondary education system
- To collect information to support decision-making throughout the system
The Accountability Framework is the result of the implementation of the Post-Secondary Education Act in December 2022. It is a step towards realizing the GNWT's vision of ensuring that every resident has the opportunity to reach their full potential through student-centered, accessible, high-quality, relevant, and accountable post-secondary education.
