John Abbott College, a leading institution in higher education, hosted its first 5 à 7 Employer Recognition Event on May 17 on the College's campus. The event celebrated and acknowledged the invaluable contributions of employers who have received student interns from six of the College's programs, including Career and Continuing Education Programs: Business Management, Graphic & Web Design, Computer Science, Network Administration, Full Stack Developer, and Applied Accounting and Administration. The event brought together prominent local businesses, industry leaders, students, and staff members.
The Employer Recognition Event served as a platform to highlight the commitment, support, and collaboration of the employers and John Abbott College. The event underscored the significance of internships as well as building strong relationships between academia and the business community. It served as a testament to the transformative power of collaborative efforts in preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of the ever-evolving job market.
The evening commenced with an opportunity for guests to mingle amongst each other. Sylvie Boucher, John Abbott College Continuing Education Manager, then welcomed guests with an opening speech and expressed her gratitude to those in attendance for their vital role in fostering a strong connection between education and industry.

The Employer Recognition Event featured a showcase of student speakers, offering attendees a firsthand glimpse into the talent and skills developed through experiential learning opportunities provided by these employers. Other speakers included Keith Cassidy, CFO of Bioform Technologies, representing business partners, and John Halpin, Director General of John Abbott College. Guests had the opportunity to network, exchange ideas and forge new connections. Employers on hand were presented with a recognition certificate from the College.
