University's Outdoor Recreation program enhances credentials for students

Capilano University's School of Outdoor Recreation Management (OREC) has signed a curriculum modification agreement with the Outdoor Council of Canada (OCC), an umbrella organization for the Canadian outdoor sector, that allows CapU students to earn additional certifications during their courses.

OCC courses are part of a national certification program. Under this agreement, CapU OREC students, through their field courses, may graduate with their diploma and the following OCC certifications: Field Leader (Hiking), Field Leader (Paddling), Field Leader (Winter), Field Leader (Overnight), Get Outside (Hike), Get Outside (Compass), Get Outside (Maps), Get Outside (Compass).

One of the longest running signature programs at CapU, the OREC program celebrates its 50^th year anniversary this year.
