Calling all entrepreneurs in post-secondary institutions across the Maritimes, this may be your chance to make a pitch of a lifetime. St. Francis Xavier University is hosting the first-ever Impact X Pitch Competition, where students can pitch their social change venture ideas and compete for over $10,000 in prize money.
The inaugural Impact X: A Summit on Entrepreneurship & Social Change will take place at the StFX campus on November 22 - 23 with workshops, access to mentors, and keynote speaker Tareq Hadhad, CEO & Founder of Peace By Chocolate, will tell his story of success. Mr. Hadhad's talk will be free to the public.
With support from the Nova Scotia Department of Advanced Education and the StFX Schwartz School of Business, 75 post-secondary and select high school students from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island are invited to attend. Participants can choose to compete in either a one-minute or seven-minute elevator pitch. For those students not ready to pitch an idea, they can still apply to attend Impact X.
The event is inspired by a growing collaboration in the StFX entrepreneurship network, with StFX DiscoverBox, Gerald Schwartz School of Business, and StFX Department of Education partnering to host Impact X. This collaboration reflects the university's ongoing commitment to social change through its organizations and programs, including the Coady Institute, experiential learning-based programs, entrepreneurial internships, and more.
The summit is designed for promising student entrepreneurs from all academic programs, including STEM students, to learn from leading entrepreneurs, community organizations, and peer institutions. Applications will open on October 1 with a deadline of October 23. It is free to apply and travel stipends will be provided to students who are required to travel.
