The next digital learning environment project at Algonquin College

Algonquin College is currently working on upgrading its digital learning environment to better meet the needs of its students and employees. Currently, most of the college has been using a learning management system (LMS) called Blackboard Learn to host course materials, conduct assessments, and to communicate with the class.

Since our contract with Blackboard is soon set to expire, we are seeking the guidance of all stakeholders to help select the next generation digital learning environment at Algonquin College. Students and faculty were recently sent a survey to complete to better understand their needs and expectations, and soon, a member of the Learning Management System Steering Committee will be reaching out to your department to gather similar information.

Over the next few weeks we will be sharing links to product demonstrations, and vendors will be invited to provide live demonstrations of their products and answer questions while faculty are on-campus for the upcoming Kaleidoscope conference.

The results will be used as part of a request for proposal (RFP) that will be issued to the vendor community at the end of June. We will then shortlist the vendor responses based on the criteria gathered from the stakeholders. You will be given the opportunity to provide additional input in the Fall by testing out the shortlisted products before a recommendation is made to the college executive team at the end of November.
