Three University of Ontario Institute of Technology students went halfway around the world for an athletic experience of a lifetime.
Ridgebacks hockey players Kassidy Nauboris, Jack Patterson and Alex Yuill had the honour of suiting up for Canada at the FISU (International University Sports Federation) Winter Universiade from March 2 to 12 in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. Nauboris helped Canada capture a silver medal in women's hockey, while Patterson and Yuill won bronze for Canada in men's hockey.
By reaching the podium, the three Ridgebacks became the university's first-ever student-athletes to win medals at Summer or Winter Universiade.
