George Brown College is pleased to announce the launch of the Toronto Blockchain Community Scholarship, a multi-year award that will provide financial support to students pursuing studies in blockchain development.
Beginning in Winter 2026 and continuing through Fall 2027, the scholarship will provide four awards of $2,500 each to full-time domestic students enrolled in the Blockchain Development (Postgraduate) program (T475) in the School of Computer Technology.
The one-year graduate certificate program is at the forefront of preparing graduates for careers in one of the fastest-growing fields in technology. Delivered in an intensive executive-style format, it combines classroom theory with project-based learning and culminates in either a mandatory co-op or a work-integrated project, providing students with valuable real-world experience. Participants gain practical expertise in blockchain architecture, smart contracts, and decentralized applications, equipping them for opportunities across industries such as fintech, healthcare, supply chain, and digital identity.
"Our Blockchain Development program equips students with the technical expertise and industry connections they need to succeed. The Toronto Blockchain Community Scholarship expands access, ensuring more talented students can thrive in a rapidly evolving digital economy," said Albert Danison, Associate Dean, School of Computer Technology.
"This scholarship helps opens doors for our students and fuels the next generation of innovators who will shape the future of this dynamic field and beyond," said George Petrovic, Program Coordinator, Blockchain Development Program
Beyond the classroom, George Brown College plays a vital role in convening the blockchain ecosystem. The College hosts monthly gatherings with industry partners, providing students with unique opportunities to engage directly with professionals, explore real-world applications, and keep pace with emerging trends.
"This scholarship helps remove financial barriers so talented students can pursue their goals and make an impact," said Allan Penning, Chief Development Officer, George Brown College Foundation.
With the introduction of the Toronto Blockchain Community Scholarship, George Brown College continues to strengthen its role as a leader in technology education and as a bridge between students and industry.
