ABBOTSFORD SCHOOL DISTRICT
Superintendent wins Restorative & Peaceful Schools Award

June 27, 2017

The Abbotsford Restorative Justice & Advocacy Association (ARJAA) has awarded Superintendent Kevin Godden with the 2017 Restorative & Peaceful Schools award. The award is presented to educational leaders who demonstrate a commitment and passion for creating respectful, safe, and restorative school cultures.

"We are incredibly proud to see the Superintendent and district recognized for the important work we are doing in developing respectful students and safe schools," said Shirley Wilson, Chair for the Board of Education. "The Board is committed to its values - Respect, Trust, Integrity, Communication, Teamwork - and the work that ARJAA in continuously doing in our schools emulates those practices with our students."

The Abbotsford Restorative Justice and Advocacy Association is a non-profit, community-based organization that works in partnership with the Abbotsford School District, to provide Restorative Action to students in local schools. Working primarily at the middle school level, ARJAA acts as an independent third party (community partner), thereby providing a space where there is the potential for more open and transparent communication with students.

The award was presented to Superintendent Kevin Godden at ARJAA's 2017 Annual General Meeting on June 15th, 2017.
