Arlene Martin has been appointed Assistant Superintendent for the North Vancouver School District, effective October 15, 2022.
Ms. Martin is a highly skilled and experienced educational leader, having dedicated 30 years to serving students in the public education system in Nova Scotia and British Columbia. Her exemplary teaching experience at all levels of the K-12 system includes 15 years as a school-based administrator.
In her roles as District Principal and Director of Instruction for the school district, she has navigated a number of system needs including StrongStart, Academies, CommunityLINK, the Student and Family Affordability Fund, and the Elementary Covid Instructional team. Her direct work with the Carson Graham Family of Schools created a healthy learning community inclusive of principal and vice-principal shadowing, networks of practice, and strong relationships.
"At every stage of her career, Ms. Martin has been an advocate for supporting all students in their educational journeys and has been intentional in her efforts to empower staff to grow and learn," said Superintendent Dr. Pius Ryan. "Ms. Martin's collaborative, supportive leadership style will advance the North Vancouver School District's goal of creating vibrant learning communities across the district."
Ms. Martin joins the Senior Executive team of Superintendent Dr. Pius Ryan, Assistant Superintendent Chris Atkinson, Secretary Treasurer Jacqui Stewart, and Executive Director, Human Resources, Scott Stanley.
