Alissa Alas teaches at Riverstone Public School in Grande Prairie Public School Division. She is the French as a second language teacher in her school and promotes the use of French in her community. Alissa uses ingenious teaching methods along with utilizing the many French resources available at her school and through the French Language Resource Centre (FLRC), including games to encourage students' creativity and guide them in their French learning. Her passion for French education and culture motivates her students and the school. "At Riverstone, the French atmosphere is vibrant and flourishing thanks to Alissa's dedication, hard work and, most importantly, her passion for the language and culture," shares Diana Boisvert, Director of Alberta's CPF and FLRC.

Not only does she encourage her students, but because of her varied teaching methods, she pushes them to succeed - and they thrive. Many of her students have chosen to challenge the DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française) primary level A1.1 exam. The examination assesses a student's proficiency in different areas, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking, which are essential for mastering the language.

CPF and AFLEC congratulate Alissa and encourage her to continue sharing her passion for French. "Alissa is a pillar of French learning and support for her students and community," says Boisvert. "We know she will continue inspiring others."
