Coast Mountains School District 82's strategic plan outlines the goal of "All Students Will Realize Their Full Potential". The Board of Education values student engagement and mandates that we ignite curiosity and innovation in School District 82.
To this end, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dan Hamel to the position of Principal for the Northwest Trades & Employment Training Centre (NTETC) effective September 1, 2024 including the relocation of the NTETC Team offices to the Thornhill Trades Centre (formerly Thornhill Junior Secondary School) effective September 1.
Currently the Vice Principal for NTETC, Dan brings a diverse background to his new principalship role. A long-time resident of Terrace, Dan holds a Journeyman Trades Carpenter Certification as well as a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Northern British Columbia. Dan is currently enrolled in a relevant Master of Education program.
Dan joined the school district in April 2011 in a teaching position at Suwilaawks Community School prior to holding the position of District Industry Training Authority Liaison/Careers Outreach Coordinator for NTETC from April 2019 to June 2023.
While serving in these roles, Dan positively impacted the lives of many learners both inside and outside the classroom, and his supportive, caring nature will serve him well in this new leadership role going forward.
