Assumption Jr/Sr High School teacher Shayne Midford is taking his coaching to a whole new court.
He has been named the associate head coach for the 18U Boys' Alberta Basketball Team.
The team will be representing the province at the 2022 Canada Summer Games.
"I was thrilled to be named the associate head coach for the provincial team, and I look forward to representing Alberta next summer," Shayne said. "It will be a fantastic experience and opportunity to coach alongside Reagan Wood and Brandon Brock."
Shayne has known Reagan for a number of years, and described him as "an amazing coach and mentor for youth, while Brandon will bring youthful exuberance and a technical component that can be applied in our preparation."
Shayne has been teaching and coaching at Assumption School for 21 years. He was recently named the Alberta Schools' Athletic Association's Zone Merit Award recipient.
"Anytime you can represent your province in a national competition, it's a pretty proud moment," he said.
