The St. James-Assiniboia School Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Doreen Cost to the position of Assistant Superintendent of Education (K-8) and Student Services effective July 1, 2018.
Ms. Cost is currently Assistant Superintendent of Student Services in Garden Valley School Division. She comes to us with a wealth of experience after working as an educator for 29 years in varying capacities including teaching at the early, middle and senior years level, as well as in adult education. She also has experience in the areas of guidance and resource, and has worked as a vice principal at the senior years level. With respect to community involvement, Ms. Cost has been a board member of the Winkler Family Resource Centre and was a key player in the development of Winkler's Safe Communities Program. She values relationships and supportive learning environments focused on engagement and growth for both students and staff alike. Ms. Cost obtained a Bachelor of Education (Elementary Stream), as well as two Post Baccalaureates in Education centred on Special Education, Counseling, EAL and Administration from the University of Manitoba. In 2012, she received her Masters of Education in Educational Administration from Brandon University.
