Taking dance to a new level, over 200 Grades 7-12 students gathered at the Victoria Inn for STEPZ 2019.
The annual WSD event offers school dance groups the chance to work alongside peers from other schools under top professional instructors.
"STEPZ is all about giving our whole dance community every school that offers dance a chance to come together and celebrate dance by learning different genres," said Tec Voc dance teacher and co-organizer Sofia Costantini.
"We want to celebrate the dance community in Winnipeg School Division, and all of the incredible work of our teachers and students," said Program Lead and co-organizer Jill Cooper. "This is an opportunity for students to have an intense dance workshop that they may not get a chance to otherwise have during a regular school day."
This year, students had the opportunity to learn hip-hop dance from Eugene "GeNie" Baffoe, Bollywood dance from Jeevan Valel and contemporary dance with Katherine Lind-Thorlackson. WSD Principal Patricia Mainville also did a presentation on the Indigenous Jingle Dress style of dance.
