AVON MAITLAND DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
South Perth Centennial Lands Learning Grounds Grant

June 22, 2015

To enrich students' learning experience through nature, South Perth Centennial School has received $2000 in funding from Toyota Evergreen Learning Grounds, a national program that helps create inviting, dynamic school grounds with diverse natural features. The funding will support South Perth's greening project to expand on our existing arboretum as well as to create a learning platform using the native trees and shrubs.

The goal of the school is to enrich student learning by planting local indigenous trees and shrubs, and adding shade and natural seating. Creating this outdoor platform will provide the students with a healthy and safe place to play and learn while developing a genuine respect for nature and for each other.

Since its inception in 1992, the Learning Grounds program has provided 43.2 million in funding to schools in Canada, helped green more than 2,700 school grounds and affected the lives of more than 1.5 million students and teachers.

South Perth Centennial School is looking forward to adding more green to our already beautiful green school ground! Thanks Toyota Evergreen! The school has also received $3500 through a TD Friends of the Environment grant.
