The Easthill Elementary School grand opening was a grand success. There was a school-wide assembly on November 21, 2024 to mark the historic occasion. All staff and students were in attendance, as well as a number of honoured guests.
A highlight of the celebration was the performances by the 75-voice student choir and the after-school band.
Special greeting were brought by: Erin Ferrante, Councillor, Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte; Ingrid Moore, representing Ryan WIlliams, Member of Parliament; Tyler Allsopp, Member of Provincial Parliament; Kari Kramp, Chair of the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board; Neil Ellis, Mayor, City of Belleville; Katherine MacIver, Director of Education; Shayah Marcotte and Eli Poyner, student leaders; Marc Henshaw, Food for Learning Community Partner; and Brandi Lucas, YMCA Daycare Partner.
Following the speeches there was a ceremonial ribbon cutting.
Easthill Elementary School, is a vibrant new K-8 educational community. With a focus on inclusivity and excellence, Easthill is committed to creating a supportive environment where every student can flourish.
Easthill has 22 bright classroom spaces, each of which are equipped with sound field systems that enhance the learning experience by helping every student hear equally well. The 4000 square foot double gymnasium features a folding stage.
In partnership with the YMCA, Easthill is also home to infant, toddlers and pre-school childcare spaces, making this school a true hub of the community.
