The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board would like to update families following the recent report from Ontario's Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC) about the PowerSchool cyberattack, which occurred earlier this year.
We take your family's privacy and security very seriously. Since the incident, we have worked closely with PowerSchool to strengthen security measures and are making further improvements to how we protect student and staff information.
What we are doing:
1) Updating our agreements with PowerSchool to ensure stronger privacy and security protections.
2) Improving how we monitor and oversee our technology partners.
3) Reviewing our own privacy practices to make sure we only collect and keep information that is truly necessary.
4) Working with other Ontario school boards to make sure all students' information is protected.
We are committed to keeping you informed and will continue to take every step to safeguard students' personal information. If you have questions or want more information, please visit our website for FAQs, Media Releases, and updates about the Powerschool Data Breach.
