St. Louis Living Arts School is thrilled to unveil a new school logo that reflects the diversity and uniqueness of the Living Arts programming. Introduced in 2020, the Living Arts programming provides both curricular and extra-curricular workshops to students and families centered in faith, ecological education, as well creation through the arts.
"At St. Louis Living Arts, our programming provides students with opportunities to explore and express learning in ways that engage them through their minds, hands, and hearts," said principal Maureen Frankcom. "As we continue to expand on our actions and demonstrate our commitment to be Stewards of the Earth, our school community has come to recognize our ability to be true friends of Creation. The creativity of local artist Tersoo Tsevende has brought our vision to life. Through colour, design, and symbol, our new logo expresses the living spirit of our school."
The school asked for input from students, families and staff about the colours, symbols, images and themes they associate with the Living Arts and faith programming at the school. The result was significantly uniform in that everyone agreed the logo needed a symbol of faith, the colours blue and green and images of the earth, growing and living.
Following the consultations, the school worked with artist Tersoo Tsevende to create the logo, which now encapsulates the vision, mission and values of St. Louis Living Arts. Tsevende incorporated a circle reflecting the oneness with the Earth as well as water and wheat to capture the element of nature and the rhythm of life. Finally, the Cross was chosen as the representation of the school's Catholic Faith.
"Our new logo will allow our community to recognize and celebrate the vision of Living Arts, which is rooted in our faith in God, our love of neighbour and in our stewardship of creation," said teacher Kerri Favreau.
The logo was approved at a Special Board Meeting held on Monday, June 26, where the Board of Trustees unanimously passed a motion approving the adoption of a new school logo, celebrating a fresh era of visual representation that reflects the spirit of St. Louis School's Living Arts program.
The new logo will be implemented throughout the summer for the start of the 2023-2024 school year. It was unveiled to all students at St. Louis Living Arts School earlier this week.
"The new school logo beautifully captures the essence of our Living Arts Program at St. Louis School, embodying creativity, expression, and the budding potential that grows in all our students," said Chair Teresa Gallik. "It serves as a vibrant symbol, reminding us of our students' transformative journey as they explore and celebrate the rich tapestry of artistic experiences, serve as stewards of creation, and make friendships and connections with community partners. This logo is a visual testament to the commitment and dedication of the St. Louis School family in fostering a thriving community where children flourish through faith."
