TLDSB Welcomes New Superintendent

Trillium Lakelands District School Board trustees approved the appointment of Katherine MacIver as Superintendent of Specialized Services and Safe and Accepting Schools at last night's board meeting.

"We are very pleased to welcome Katherine to our senior administration team," stated Director of Education Larry Hope, "Katherine brings a wealth of experience to this role. She will carry on the excellent support provided to students with special needs as well as our entire system."

MacIver began her teaching career as an elementary teacher in Red Lake, Ontario. She then moved to secondary teaching as well as other special support positions in Keewatin-Patricia District School Board in Kenora, Ontario. She became a school administrator in that school board in 2005 before moving to Trillium Lakelands District School Board as principal of Fenelon Falls Secondary School in September 2010. MacIver has been the District Principal of Specialized Services for TLDSB since August 2014.

"Katherine's leadership in TLDSB has been transformative," stated Chairperson Louise Clodd, "Her collaborative approach is noticeable in her work with our Specialized Services staff as well as the board Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC)."

MacIver will begin her new position on September 1, 2015 following the retirement of current Superintendent of Specialized Services Kevin Cutler.

"I'm excited for this opportunity to continue to work with a dynamic team of leaders and learners in this new role in TLDSB," said MacIver, "It is inspiring and rewarding to be a part of a system that commits wholeheartedly to keeping student learning and wellness at its core."
