At the Organizational Board Meeting of the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB), trustees elected Maedith Radlein as Chair and Joanne Weston as Vice-Chair.
Trustee Radlein and Trustee Weston, are in their first and second terms, respectively, as trustees. Trustee Radlein served as Vice-Chair for the past year, this will be Trustee Weston's third time serving as Vice-Chair.
"I want to share my gratitude to my colleagues for your trust and confidence in selecting me to represent the WRDSB as chairperson," said Radlein. "Alongside Vice-Chair Weston and all trustees, we will work together towards our shared goal of supporting the achievement and well-being of every student we serve. I want all WRDSB students to know that with every point we discuss, and with every decision we make, we are committed to centring your needs, and modelling respectful and constructive debate."
"As I embark on my third term as Vice-Chair, I look forward to supporting Chair Radlein and the WRDSB Board of Trustees," said Vice-Chair Weston. "Together, we are focused on furthering the academic achievement and well-being of students, the well-being of staff, and supporting families and the community."
"Although they will be in new roles as Chair and Vice-Chair, Trustees Radlein and Weston continue to serve in leadership roles on the Board of Trustees. I want to share my thanks for their dedication to supporting every WRDSB student in reaching their full potential, in learning and in life," said Director of Education jeewan chanicka. "I am confident that the Board of Trustees will continue to put the needs of the students, staff and families we serve at the heart of their decision making. Together, we're building a school board where every student is supported in their achievement and well-being."
