CONSEIL SCOLAIRE CATHOLIQUE PROVIDENCE
Day Care Centre Expansion at École catholique Sainte-Marguerite-d'Youville in Tecumseh

June 20, 2023

The government has made a written announcement of funding for the expansion of day care services at École élémentaire catholique Sainte-Marguerite-d'Youville. The Ontario Ministry of Education is supporting Conseil scolaire catholique Providence (Csc Providence) with a total investment of $3.4 million. This expansion will create 49 additional early learning and childcare spaces in the Tecumseh area.

Currently, École élémentaire catholique Sainte-Marguerite-d'Youville offers day care services for children aged 18 months to 4 years, as well as for school-age children. Government funding will enable the addition of services for toddlers aged 0-18 months.

"We're determined to build and expand schools faster, as part of our commitment to modernizing schools in fast-growing communities," said Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education. "We are proud to fund this expansion at École élémentaire catholique Sainte-Marguerite-d'Youville for Windsor families, while also ensuring increased funding, staffing and tutoring services to allow students to graduate with confidence in the knowledge that they will be able to succeed in well-paying careers."

"Conseil scolaire catholique Providence would like to thank the Ontario Ministry of Education for this funding. It will allow the addition of three childcare rooms in the Tecumseh area. This announcement is great news for francophone families in the region! We're delighted that the Ontario Government has recognized the growing needs of the francophone population, and we're moving immediately to the next stages of the project," said Jacques Kenny, Chairman of the Board.

"École catholique Saint-Marguerite-d'Youville is currently the only school in the Tecumseh region offering a 100% French-speaking day care centre. This expansion project will enable us to better serve our French-speaking Catholic school communities. The addition of day care spaces is essential to the development of the French and Catholic identity of our region's children. Francophone families currently waiting for a childcare space will therefore be able to benefit from these new licenced educational childcare services during the 2023-2024 school year," said Carolyn Bastien, Acting Director of Education.
