St. Clair Catholic is pleased to join in the celebration of Local Government Week, taking place from October 20-26. This annual, province-wide event raises awareness about the importance of local government, including the distinct role that Catholic School Trustees play in shaping education for Ontario's students.
Catholic School Trustees are democratically elected representatives of the Catholic community, entrusted with governing Ontario's Catholic District School Boards. Their mission goes beyond governance they serve as stewards and advocates, dedicated to upholding the values of Catholic education by placing Christ and the teachings of the Church at the heart of every student's learning experience. Local Government Week provides an opportunity to highlight the vital role trustees play in maintaining publicly funded Catholic education by creating a learning environment that is centred on faith, community, and service.
"At St. Clair Catholic, our trustees are instrumental in keeping education rooted in Catholic values," says Scott Johnson, Director of Education. "Their leadership has a lasting impact on the success of our students and the strength of our Catholic community."
"Our trustees are dedicated to preserving the distinctiveness of Catholic education and providing every student with the opportunity to grow in faith and knowledge," says John Van Heck, Chair of the Board. "Their leadership reflects the deep connection between governance and our Catholic mission." Throughout Local Government Week, St. Clair Catholic will engage with schools, parishes, and the wider community to celebrate the contribution of Catholic trustees and raise awareness of their important work.
