KING'S UNIVERSITY COLLEGE
King's names accomplished scholar and academic leader as Interim President

September 6, 2024

King's Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Dr. Robert Ventresca, Vice President Academic Dean, will assume the role of Interim President.

"We are lucky to have a proven, mission-driven, values-based leader with strong relationships within King's community and beyond to lead us into our next chapter," says Nonie Brennan, Board Chair, King's University College Board of Directors.

Dr. Ventresca began his post-secondary career as a first-generation undergraduate student at King's in 1989. He obtained his Ph.D. in History from the University of Toronto and returned to join the faculty at King's in 2000. Since then, he has achieved teaching and research excellence, with numerous publications to his name. He is also a member (emeritus) of the College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists at the Royal Society of Canada.

Dr. Ventresca begins his tenure as Interim President effective today. We look forward to continuing to work with Dr. Ventresca to further our mission as a Catholic university including by launching our strategic plan, conducting an operating review, and launching the new Academic Council and Community Assemblies. We are committed to ensuring Dr. Ventresca has the support necessary to excel in this demanding role.

The Board looks forward to consulting with members of the Academic Council in September on a review of the Board's policy on the search and appointment of the president. We expect a selection committee to begin a rigorous and transparent process in October, with the goal of filling the position of President on a permanent basis by July 1, 2025.
