CENTRAL QUÉBEC SCHOOL BOARD
The Central Québec School Board will undertake drinking water quality tests in all its establishments

November 26, 2019

In a letter sent to school board chairs, the Minister of Education, Jean-François Roberge, mentions that an initiative is underway to ensure that all schools in Québec have good water quality in their buildings. In this letter it is indicated that devices to analyze drinking water will be delivered to school boards at the latest at the beginning of 2020.

Considering the extent of our territory, the Central Québec School Board (CQSB) mandated an external firm to take the samples and carry out the analysis. All tests will be completed at the latest at the end of February 2020 for our elementary schools and in May 2020 for our secondary schools. If necessary, and as soon as possible, we will put in place corrective measures following reception of these results.

We would like to reassure you of our commitment to the new standard that all schools in the province have a rate of 5 micrograms / L for the maximum acceptable concentration of lead in drinking water.

We want all our students and staff members to enjoy a safe and healthy environment inside our establishments.

The CQSB will keep you updated on this issue!
