The Ted Rogers School of Management (TRSM) has presented its intent to propose a new and innovative master's program for students seeking the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, as well as those interested in advanced graduate study in accounting. This Notice of Intent (NOI) will be available online for the customary review period of 30 days, until April 6, 2026.
The Master of Accounting (MAcc) degree aims to prepare graduates for successful careers as professional accountants by emphasizing CPA certification readiness, strong technical foundations, and essential business competencies. The program curriculum provides a direct, rigorous, and efficient pathway to the new requirements for CPA certification while fostering ethical leadership and professional responsibility within the accounting profession.
Students will develop advanced proficiency in core accounting areas, including financial reporting, management accounting, auditing, taxation, performance management, and finance, while also addressing emerging areas, such as big data and analytics, and exposing students to cutting edge research in the field of accounting. Graduates of the program will be prepared for careers in public practice, industry, financial institutions, government, and other not-for-profit organizations.
More information on the proposed program is available in the NOI.
Please review the NOI and provide feedback and comments by emailing provost@torontomu.ca before April 6, 2026.
Thank you in advance for your review and input,
Roberta Iannacito-Provenzano
