On Aug. 26, 2024, Suncrest College had its first six students in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound) program walk through the doors.
Friday, the College was able to recognize those who helped make this program a first in Saskatchewan. At a special event, sponsors of the program were invited to tour the facilities, as well as meet current students in this inaugural intake.
"We've received support from all across this province," said Suncrest College President & CEO, Alison Dubreuil. "Seeing this program come to life, and the possible outcomes for our province, it's been a great experience. We hope that these supporters are able to see their impacts firsthand."
Suncrest College developed a partnership with The Health Foundation of East Central Saskatchewan three years ago which has led to the Foundation raising the funds to purchase equipment for the Medical Lab Assistant course last year and this year the Foundation raised over $500,000 for the diagnostic sonography program. As part of that fundraising campaign the Foundation raised almost $200,000 from other hospital foundations around the province, in addition to the funds raised locally.
Suncrest College would like to thank all those who had a hand in making the College Saskatchewan's choice in postsecondary for ultrasound and sonography.
