FSD to welcome Ms. Katelyn Nickel as Assistant Superintendent, Corporate Services/Secretary Treasurer

We are pleased to announce that Ms. Katelyn Nickel will be joining the Foothills School Division as Assistant Superintendent of Corporate Services/Secretary Treasurer, effective June 1, 2025. Ms. Nickel brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to the education sector, making her an excellent addition to our team.

Ms. Nickel is a Chartered Professional Accountant and currently serves as the Director of Corporate Services at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools. She has a proven track record of competent fiscal management, organizational excellence, and leadership capabilities. Her extensive experience includes managing the preparation of Audited Financial Statements, Annual Budgets, and capital reserve plans. Katelyn has successfully led the implementation of new initiatives that improved data analysis and supported the organization's strategic plans. She has also been recognized for her excellence in audit results and her ability to manage complex business operations. Katelyn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Calgary, further enhancing her ability to build and cultivate strong relationships with various stakeholders.

With her solution-focused leadership style, Ms. Nickel has successfully led large cross-functional teams and implemented initiatives that significantly improved organizational efficiency. Her expertise in risk management, financial reporting, and strategic planning will be invaluable to our Division. We are confident that Ms. Nickel's skills and dedication will greatly benefit the Foothills School Division as we continue to achieve our mission and vision.

This leadership appointment follows the announcement that Mr. Drew Chipman will be retiring after 23 years in the role of Assistant Superintendent, Corporate Services / Secretary Treasurer with FSD as of June 30, 2025 (read announcement).
