Brock's Information Technology Services (ITS) team is kicking off a month-long campaign to educate students, faculty and staff about staying safe online.
October is Cyber Security Awareness Month (CAM), an internationally recognized initiative that raises awareness about the importance of cybersecurity.
This year's campaign, "Unleashing Cyber Champions," invites Canadians of all ages to strengthen their cybersecurity to help protect themselves as well as their families, schools, businesses and communities.
Each week during CAM, Brock ITS will share cybersecurity tips and resources including games, articles, infographics and quizzes designed to help users learn about:
- developing healthy online habits
- adopting best practices for using artificial intelligence
- building resilience to cybersecurity threats
- exploring the importance of continuous cybersecurity monitoring
Brock ITS will also be running a contest for students throughout October, with the top three students on the BrockU Cyber Aware platform leaderboard as of 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27 eligible to win a prize.
Students can track their progress using the recently introduced leaderboard on the Engagements Tab. Engagement points can be earned by completing assigned tasks or by self-enrolling in and finishing courses.
