Scott Flintoft appointed Principal at Red Deer Lake School

We are pleased to share that effective August 23, 2023, Mr. Scott Flintoft will be moving into the role of Principal at Red Deer Lake School (RDL). Most recently Scott has been Principal of École Joe Clark School (ÉJCS) and the Divisional Lead Administrator for Divisional Speech-Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists.

Significant strengths in establishing positive school-wide culture, effective home and school communications, inclusive education practices, and designing engaging learning opportunities for diverse student needs characterize Scott's instructional leadership. Scott is an exceptional fit with the Leadership Profile developed with the RDL school community for this leadership position and his experience in roles as Homeroom Generalist, Physical Education Teacher, Learning Coach, Vice-Principal, and Principal will inform this next leadership opportunity. Notably, in 2020-2021, Mr. Flintoft was also Vice-Principal for Hub@Home (grades 1- 9) where he formed part of the team that launched our inaugural digital school.   

Mr. Flintoft's caring, ethical, and approachable leadership presence in his school leadership roles at Dr. Morris Gibson School and ÉJCS has made a significant impact on students, staff, and families. This, combined with his practice as an accomplished teacher and instructional leader, will ensure continued success within a tradition of excellence for the Red Deer Lake School community.  

Mr. Flintoft holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta, a Bachelor of Arts (History) from the University of Calgary, and a Master of Education (Educational Studies) from the University of Alberta. Mr. Flintoft achieved his Alberta Leadership Quality Standard certificate in 2021. 

As he steps into RDL Scott shares, "I am fortunate to have the opportunity to join the exceptional team at Red Deer Lake and am excited to learn and build lasting relationships with staff, students, and the parent community. To all the staff and families at École Joe Clark, I am forever grateful that I was able to learn with all of you. Thank you for a year's worth of friendships, conversations, and laughs. It was truly an honour to learn at such a kind and welcoming school."
