Congratulations to Abdirahman, Abigail, Given, Hani, Jahzara, Kenya, Marcus and Melodie! These eight Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) students were recognized with Awards of Excellence scholarships from the Congress of Black Women of Canada (CBW) - Waterloo Region and the Caribbean Association of Waterloo Region (CCAWR) on September 22, 2024.

WRDSB Chairperson Joanne Weston, Vice Chair Maedith Radlein, Director jeewan chanicka, Associate Director Bill Lemon, Executive Officer Eusis Dougan-McKenzie, along with WRDSB staff Deepa Ahluwalia, Pauline Janke, Phyllis Peprah, Teneile Warren, and Rihanat El-Alawa were honoured to be present for this celebration and recognition.
About the Award of Excellence Scholarships
The CCAWR and CBW Award of Excellence scholarship program aims to recognize and celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of young adults in our community. The program is designed to provide scholarships for qualified youth in the region who have been accepted to pursue post-secondary education at any Canadian educational institution. The recipients are chosen based on outstanding academic achievements, demonstrated leadership abilities and community volunteerism.
