Locally owned Bumper to Bumper has once again demonstrated its commitment to Olds College of Agriculture & Technology by donating five full toolbox sets for international students, which have already been spoken for by eager students who will benefit from this invaluable donation.
This initiative, which began in 2015, has led to the generous donation of multiple toolboxes to deserving students over the years. Recently, the focus has shifted to supporting international students who face unique challenges while pursuing their education far from home. Many of these students come from diverse backgrounds and the burden of purchasing their own tools can be overwhelming especially when transporting them back to their home countries is challenging.
Recognizing this need, Bumper to Bumper, under the leadership of Rob Rhodes, has played a pivotal role in easing the stress for these students.
"It's really great to be able to help the students that's what it's all about and if we can, why wouldn't we? Anything we can do to make it easier for our international students is important," said Rob Rhodes, Owner, Bumper to Bumper (Olds and Didsbury). "They already have so many things to think about while moving far away from home. The added burden of purchasing hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars' worth of tools can be financially difficult, not to mention the cost of sending those tools back to their home country. Also, borrowing from other students can be awkward. This way, they can use these tools without added stress and at the end of the day, less stress means more focus and more focus can lead to better understanding and grades."
Bumper to Bumper's ongoing support showcases the power of community and the impact of local businesses contributing to the next generation of skilled tradespeople. Each toolbox donated represents not just tools, but a sense of belonging and support for students who are far from home.
