Algoma University and Altitude Accelerator partner to boost student innovation

Algoma University and Altitude Accelerator have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to bolster their joint support for entrepreneurs, thereby enhancing Ontario's reputation as a premier market for new businesses.

This collaboration will enhance experiential learning opportunities for students in Algoma University's Faculty of Business and Economics (FoBE) and the School of Computer Science and Technology (SCST) through cooperative education, internships, work-integrated learning, and placements. Programming will include guest lectures on research and innovation, as well as new opportunities to work with Altitude Accelerator practitioners on thesis, capstone, and project courses.

"Algoma University graduates are leading the way in Ontario's entrepreneurial scene," said David Marasco, Director of Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships at Algoma University. "By combining the expertise and resources of Algoma University's FoBE and SCST with the robust support services of Altitude Accelerator, students will have amazing opportunities to bring their tech innovations to market and drive new business growth, positioning themselves as leaders in Ontario's entrepreneurial landscape."

An exciting opportunity awaits Algoma University students as specialized topic courses will include the Investor Readiness Program with Altitude Accelerator, integrating business startups into experiential learning projects. 

Pam Banks, the Executive Director of Altitude Accelerator, emphasized the significance of the partnership between Algoma University and Altitude Accelerator. She stated, "Our exciting partnership with Algoma University School of Business and Economics allows Altitude Accelerator to bring students and founders together through experiential learning. The fusion of innovation, ideas, and talent supports innovative products of the future, contributing to a thriving economy in Brampton and Peel. This collaboration aims to assist area entrepreneurs and students fostering growth and scalability for high-potential technology startups in the region."
