On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team, please join us in welcoming Corey Kapilik to his new appointment as the Director of School and Classroom Supports. The Board of Trustees confirmed his position at the February 20 Regular Board Meeting.
Corey joined the Board Office team last year as the Divisional Principal of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism Services. In his new role, Corey fills a vacancy created when Ron Cadez was appointed to the position of assistant superintendent due to Marlene Murray's retirement. Corey will continue to bring together the Instructional and Clinical Services teams that make up the School and Classroom Supports Team. Alongside, myself and Ron, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional, Student and Clinical Services, Corey will:
- Model and promote evidence informed inclusive/anti-racist educational practices through professional learning, collaboration, co-planning and co-teaching
- Promote and apply research-based tools for early identification of programming needs
- Engage in collaborative student specific planning with school and program-based teams, as well as divisional teams, to meet collective and individual student needs
