Hamilton's Catholic school community is reeling from the passing of a beloved Trustee and friend, Tony Perri. Perri, Trustee for Wards 3 & 4, died suddenly on Friday, September 11, 2020. He was 70 years old.

"The Board of Trustees and our Catholic school system are shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden death of our friend and colleague, Tony Perri," said HWCDSB Chairperson Patrick Daly in words of condolence.
Perri formerly served as a trustee with the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board from 1983-1988. After retiring as a secondary school teacher with the Halton Catholic District School Board, he returned to public office in 2014 as a separate school trustee for Hamilton's downtown wards, 3 and 4.
Over his many years of public service, Perri sat on virtually every board committee, and served at various times as Chair of the Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) and Student Achievement and Well-Being Standing Committee of the Board. He was not only respected by his trustee colleagues, but by parents and staff throughout the system and at his Ward 3 and 4 schools.
"At all times and in all of his endeavours, Tony remained focused on what was in the best interests and well-being of students, particularly those most in need," said Daly.
"He had a wonderful sense of humour, but what those of us who served with him most admired about Tony was his passion - for life, for his family who brought such joy to his life, and for publicly funded Catholic Education. It was a pleasure to serve with him and he will be deeply missed."
"We pray for the repose of his soul."
Tony Perri is survived by his wife, Claudette, daughter Bianca and her husband, son Marco, grandchildren and family.
